Description

Fuyang Metal is a professional open end blind rivets manufacturer in China. We manufacture aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel and copper blind rivets for fastener distributors, wholesalers, construction suppliers and industrial buyers.

Open end blind rivets provide a fast and reliable method of permanently joining two or more components. Installation requires access from only one side of the workpiece, making these rivets suitable for hollow sections, enclosed structures, sheet-metal assemblies and locations where the back of the joint cannot be reached.

Our blind rivets are available in multiple body and mandrel material combinations. Different diameters, lengths, grip ranges, head styles, surface treatments and packaging options can be manufactured according to customer requirements.

As an experienced open end blind rivets manufacturer, Fuyang Metal can recommend suitable body and mandrel materials according to the required strength, corrosion resistance, workpiece material and application environment.

Available Blind Rivet Materials

Open end blind rivets can be manufactured using different body and mandrel materials. The appropriate combination should be selected according to the required joint strength, corrosion resistance, workpiece material, weight and service environment.

Aluminum Steel Blind Rivets

Aluminum body and zinc plated steel mandrel blind rivets are widely used for general-purpose fastening. The aluminum body provides low weight and useful corrosion resistance, while the steel mandrel supplies the pulling strength required during installation.

This material combination is commonly selected for sheet metal, signs, ventilation equipment, electrical enclosures, household products and general assembly.

All-Aluminum Blind Rivets

All-aluminum blind rivets use an aluminum body and aluminum mandrel. They provide a lightweight fastening solution and help reduce the risk of corrosion caused by combining substantially different metals.

They are suitable for lightweight structures and applications where high joint strength is not the primary requirement.

Steel Steel Blind Rivets

Steel body and steel mandrel blind rivets provide higher mechanical strength than many standard aluminum rivets. Zinc plating and other surface treatments can be applied to improve corrosion resistance.

Steel blind rivets are commonly used in machinery, equipment, steel furniture, automotive components, construction products and other industrial assemblies.

Stainless Steel Steel Blind Rivets

These rivets combine an SS304 or SS316 stainless steel body with a zinc plated carbon steel mandrel. The stainless steel body provides improved corrosion resistance, while the steel mandrel supports reliable installation.

This option is also commonly described as a stainless steel body and steel mandrel blind rivet.

All-Stainless Steel Blind Rivets

All-stainless steel blind rivets use both a stainless steel body and a stainless steel mandrel. SS304 and SS316 material options can be supplied according to the required corrosion resistance and service conditions.

They are suitable for outdoor, high-humidity, food-processing, coastal and other corrosive environments. The complete joint and surrounding materials should be evaluated for the intended application.

Copper Blind Rivets

Copper blind rivets are available with steel or bronze mandrels. Copper provides good corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity and a distinctive appearance.

These rivets can be used in electrical equipment, roofing components, decorative products, copper sheet assemblies and specialized industrial applications.

Common Material Combinations

Rivet Body Mandrel Typical Characteristics
Aluminum Zinc Plated Steel Lightweight, economical and suitable for general-purpose fastening
Aluminum Aluminum Lightweight and suitable where an all-aluminum construction is preferred
Carbon Steel Carbon Steel Good mechanical strength for industrial assembly
SS304 or SS316 Zinc Plated Steel Stainless steel body with economical steel mandrel
SS304 or SS316 Stainless Steel Higher corrosion resistance for demanding environments
Copper Zinc Plated Steel Conductive copper body with steel installation mandrel
Copper Bronze Non-ferrous material combination for specialized applications

Blind Rivet Head Options

Dome Head Blind Rivets

Dome head, also called standard flange or protruding head, is the most commonly used blind rivet head style. It provides a compact installed appearance and is suitable for general sheet-metal and industrial fastening.

Large Flange Blind Rivets

Large flange blind rivets have a wider head that distributes the clamping load across a larger surface. They can be used with thin sheet, soft materials, oversized holes and applications requiring increased head coverage.

Countersunk Head Blind Rivets

Countersunk head blind rivets are designed to sit flush or nearly flush with a properly prepared countersunk surface. They are suitable for applications requiring reduced head projection and a smoother finished appearance.

How Open End Blind Rivets Work

An open end blind rivet consists of a tubular rivet body and a mandrel. The assembled rivet is inserted into a prepared hole, and a rivet tool pulls the mandrel through the rivet body.

As the mandrel is pulled, its head deforms and expands the blind end of the rivet body. This clamps the joined components together. When the designed setting force is reached, the mandrel breaks at its break point and the joint remains permanently fastened.

How to Select the Correct Blind Rivet

The correct rivet should be selected according to the workpiece materials, hole diameter, total material thickness, grip range, required joint strength, head style and service environment.

The body length must provide sufficient material to form the blind-side head. A rivet that is too short may not clamp the components correctly, while an excessively long rivet may create an unsuitable or unstable joint.

Material compatibility should also be considered, especially in humid, outdoor or corrosive environments. Selecting compatible rivet and workpiece materials can help reduce the risk of galvanic corrosion.

Open End Blind Rivet Installation

  1. Prepare a hole of the specified diameter.
  2. Align the components that need to be joined.
  3. Insert the rivet body completely into the hole.
  4. Place the mandrel into the nosepiece of the rivet tool.
  5. Operate the tool to pull the mandrel and expand the rivet body.
  6. Continue until the mandrel breaks at its designed point.
  7. Inspect the installed head and blind-side formation.

Blind Rivet Manufacturing and Quality Control

Our manufacturing process includes raw material inspection, rivet body forming, mandrel production, heat treatment where required, surface treatment, rivet assembly, dimensional inspection and final packaging.

Quality control can include body-diameter inspection, length inspection, head-diameter checking, grip-range verification, mandrel-break inspection, setting tests, tensile and shear performance tests, coating inspection and packaging inspection.
