Description
Fuyang Metal manufactures large flange blind rivets for fastener distributors, wholesalers and industrial buyers. These open end blind rivets feature an enlarged head that provides a wider bearing surface and greater hole coverage than a standard dome head.
Our large flange rivets are available with aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel 304 and stainless steel 410 bodies. Carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum mandrel options can be supplied according to the required material combination and application.
Different diameters, body lengths, grip ranges, flange diameters, finishes, colors and packaging options can be manufactured according to customer requirements.

Wide Large-Flange Head Design
The enlarged flange has a wider diameter than a conventional dome head. It distributes the clamping load across a larger area of the workpiece and provides increased coverage around the installation hole.
This design can be useful when fastening thin sheet, plastic, fiberglass, soft materials or components containing oversized holes. The wide head can help reduce localized pressure and the risk of the rivet head pulling through the workpiece.
A large flange does not automatically increase every aspect of joint strength. Rivet diameter, body length, grip range, hole condition, material strength and installation quality must also be considered.
Available Large Flange Rivet Materials
Aluminum Large Flange Blind Rivets
Aluminum large flange blind rivets provide low weight, useful corrosion resistance and easy installation. They can be assembled with zinc plated steel or aluminum mandrels according to the required joint performance.
Aluminum rivets are suitable for thin sheet, signs, plastic panels, ventilation equipment, trailers and general lightweight assemblies.
SS304 Large Flange Blind Rivets
SS304 large flange blind rivets provide good corrosion resistance for outdoor, humid and general industrial environments. They can be supplied with carbon steel or stainless steel mandrels.
An all-SS304 construction can be selected when higher overall corrosion resistance is required. The material combination should be confirmed according to the service environment and workpiece materials.
SS410 Large Flange Blind Rivets
SS410 large flange blind rivets provide useful mechanical strength and moderate corrosion resistance. SS410 options can be manufactured according to the required dimensions, mandrel material and joint-performance requirements.
For outdoor or corrosive applications, the suitability of SS410 should be evaluated against SS304 and other available material combinations.
Carbon Steel Large Flange Blind Rivets
Carbon steel body and steel mandrel rivets provide good mechanical strength for machinery, construction components, steel furniture and general industrial assembly.
Zinc plating and customized coatings can be applied to improve surface corrosion resistance.
Available Body and Mandrel Combinations
| Rivet Body | Mandrel | Typical Characteristics |
| Aluminum | Zinc Plated Steel | Lightweight and economical for general applications |
| Aluminum | Aluminum | Lightweight all-aluminum construction |
| Carbon Steel | Carbon Steel | Good mechanical strength for industrial fastening |
| SS304 | Zinc Plated Steel | Corrosion-resistant body with an economical steel mandrel |
| SS304 | Stainless Steel | Improved overall corrosion resistance |
| SS410 | Carbon Steel or Stainless Steel | Useful strength and moderate corrosion resistance |

Large Flange vs Standard Dome Head
| Feature | Large Flange Head | Standard Dome Head |
| Head Diameter | Wider head diameter | Smaller standard diameter |
| Load Distribution | Spread across a larger area | Concentrated over a smaller area |
| Hole Coverage | Greater hole coverage | Requires a correctly sized hole |
| Typical Workpieces | Thin sheet, plastic and soft materials | General sheet-metal components |
| Appearance | Larger and more visible installed head | More compact installed head |
How Large Flange Blind Rivets Work
The rivet is inserted through aligned holes in the components, and the mandrel is placed into the nosepiece of a rivet tool. When the tool pulls the mandrel, the mandrel head expands and deforms the blind end of the rivet body.
The components are clamped between the large flange head and the formed blind-side head. When the required setting force is reached, the mandrel breaks at its designed break point, leaving a permanent mechanical joint.
How to Select the Correct Rivet
The correct large flange rivet should be selected according to the workpiece material, hole diameter, combined material thickness, required grip range, flange diameter, joint strength and service environment.
The rivet diameter should match the prepared hole within the specified tolerance. The body length must provide the correct grip range for the total thickness of the joined components.
Please provide the body material, mandrel material, diameter, body length, grip range and flange diameter when requesting a quotation. A drawing or physical sample can help us confirm the correct specification.
Manufacturing and Quality Control
Our manufacturing process includes raw material inspection, rivet body forming, mandrel production, heat treatment where required, surface treatment, rivet assembly, dimensional inspection and final packaging.
Quality control can include body-diameter inspection, body-length inspection, flange-diameter checking, grip-range verification, mandrel-break inspection, setting tests, tensile and shear performance tests, surface inspection and packaging inspection.
Custom Finishes and OEM Packaging
Available finishes include natural aluminum, zinc plating, polishing, painting and customized surface treatments. Color selection can be based on an approved RAL code or physical color sample.
Packaging options include plastic bags, small boxes, bulk cartons, master cartons and export pallets. Private labels, customer logos, barcode stickers, customized boxes and carton marks are available.
